and congratulations to our second consolation finishers U21 Women Team Reimer and U21 Men Team Scott.

We hope all teams participating in the Royal Slam found it to be a valuable step on their development in the sport of curling. At the end of the day, it truly is about competing AND developing as we better our game.  Junior Slam Series wishes to thank our sponsor Curl Coach who custom made Live Scores for the Slam Series. We had thousands of hits on Live Scores this weekend. This real time scoring system has so many features that made viewing off site nearly as satisfying as being there live. Thank you to our excellent staff for your hard work uploading scores for 80 games at this event.

We also wish to thank sportandwellness.ca Biosteel, Kangen Water for donating and sampling your products this weekend.  Athletes can purchase Biosteel directly from our sponsor at a 10% discount.  Your support made the Royal Slam a huge success. We extend our thanks as well to the Kitchener Waterloo Granite Club and staff. Thanks also to Runback.

We wish to thank Mike Harris for a phenomonal ROCKTalk. With over 100 U21 curlers in attendance, Mike brought to life a positive combination of practical advice, anecdotal stories and first-hand experience for our athletes.  Mike's tips: 1. The Mic is ALWAYS on! There is no 7 second delay. 2. Being interviewed? Be yourself! 3. Practice playing as if you're being recorded. 4. If you are wearing a Mic, you are playing an 'important' game. Feel pride that you are exactly where you want to be. Embrace the opportunity!  We recorded Mike's talk for those who missed it.  Stay tuned for the upload!

"When The Mic Is On", with Mike Harris

Friday Sep 9, 8PM

How well will you curl when the microphone is on, the cameras are rolling and an audience is watching?

The idea can rattle even the coolest athletes.  But as your team moves up the ranks, it's a likely prospect that you will be wearing a microphone while you play.  And what about after a game when media want an interview?  Being media saavy is crucial in the modern era of curling.  Sportsnet broadcaster Mike Harris kicks off our ROCKTalks season with an inspiring and helpful presentation:  "When the Mic is on".  Who better than Mike, an Olympic silver-medal curler and broadcasting veteran to show us the ropes?

Sportsnet broadcaster Mike Harris is an expert curler, coach and motivational speaker.  His television commentary has taught the public much about the sport, and his contagious laugh and easy manner make for a warm, inspiring presentation.  A tough competitor, Mike skipped his Men's team in 1998 to an Olympic silver medal.  He is still a prominent figure on the Ontario Men's curling tour. Mike is a former golf pro at Donalda Golf and Curling Club and has coached curling teams internationally.
