U21 Crystal Slam
RIDEAU CURLING CLUB
October 20, 21, 22  2017

The Junior Slam Series introduces its newest gem: the U21 Crystal Slam, Ottawa. Set in our Nation's capital, this Slam attracts an international field. Teams get a four game minimum guarantee and  a powerful ROCKTalk with Craig Savill. The top two winners in both genders earn an invitation to our U21 Player's Championships March 31-April 2, 2018.

Craig Savill knows a thing or two about front ends, playing alongside Brent Laing for over 15 years, the last ten as lead for Glenn Howard. Craig was often credited with game-winning ticks and taps that made him a superstar on the circuit. Considered one of the most consistent, reliable leads, Craig's career highlights include two World Junior Curling titles, a 2007 & 2012 Brier and Ford World Men's Championship. We are thrilled to have Craig speak to our U21 athletes at the Crystal Slam.

"Building A Powerful Front End", with Craig Savill

October 20, 2017  Rideau Curling Club

What makes a good lead? What makes a good second? What makes these two players 'powerful' together?

This talk explores the unique characteristics and relationship of front end players, handling personality conflicts, how and when the front end should and shouldn't communicate and working with 'difficult' or moody back end players.
