We are thrilled to be returning to Kitchener’s KW Granite Curling Club for Season 5 events. It was here where the Junior Slam Series first started in 2016 and we are proud of our relationship with this terrific club and its tremendous staff. KW Granite is a first class facility with 6 sheets of championship ice and a wonderful environment. This event will be run under the Slam Series COVID-19 return to play guidelines. All teams must review and understand the full spectrum of guidelines in place prior to registering for the event.
The Royal is always a great event and for many teams this year, this may be their first competition of the season. This year’s Royal is a 16 team event consisting of 8 Women’s and 8 Men’s teams, with a guarantee of 6 games over the weekend. Registration for the event will be priorities to U21 teams for the first week after registration launch, then will be open to U18 teams thereafter.
Format with Full Draw: Pools of 4, Round Robin games against teams in the opposite pool, all teams after Round Robin will be positioned in either the Championship or Consolation Round for Sunday’s games
This event will see the Men’s teams have the early morning and late afternoon draw times and the Women’s teams will have the early afternoon and evening draw times throughout the weekend. Due to provincial restrictions on occupant capacity no fans will be permitted on site.
Teams will be able to register 6 persons per team for the event. Teams may be comprised of 6 people in the following 2 options ONLY and must be designated upon your registration:
A: 4 players, 1 alternate, & 1 Coach (note alternates and coaches must be the same person throughout the event)
B: 4 players, 1 Coach, 1 Asst Coach (note assistant coach and coach must be the same person throughout the event)
The Royal Slam is being presented in partnership with the Sandra Schmirler Foundation. The Junior Slam Series will be donating our profits plus 50% of the prize purse to the Foundation and we encourage winning teams to donate their winnings to this amazing cause.
