The U21 Sapphire Slam is the fourth event in the Junior Slam Series Season 5 schedule and the second U21 event. KW Granite is where the Junior Slam Series first started in 2016 and we are proud of our relationship with this terrific club and its tremendous staff. KW Granite is a first class facility with 6 sheets of championship ice and a wonderful environment. This event will be run under the Slam Series COVID-19 return to play guidelines. All teams must review and understand the full spectrum of guidelines in place prior to registering for the event.

This year’s Sapphire Slam is a 16 team event consisting of 8 Women’s and 8 Men’s teams, with a guarantee of 6 games over the weekend. Registration for the event will be priorities to U21 teams for the first week after registration launch, then will be open to U18 teams thereafter.

Format with Full Draw: Pools of 4, Round Robin games against teams in the opposite pool, all teams after Round Robin will be positioned in either the Championship or Consolation Round for Sunday’s games

This event will see the Women’s teams have the early morning and late afternoon draw times and the Men’s teams will have the early afternoon and evening draw times throughout the weekend. Due to provincial restrictions on occupant capacity no fans will be permitted on site.

Teams will be able to register 6 persons per team for the event. Teams may be comprised of 6 people in the following 2 options ONLY and must be designated upon your registration:

A: 4 players, 1 alternate, & 1 Coach (note alternates and coaches must be the same person throughout the event)

B: 4 players, 1 Coach, 1 Asst Coach (note assistant coach and coach must be the same person throughout the event)

Host Club Details

The Junior Slam Series has been working with our host Venue, K.W. Granite Club to ensure that the event can be run safely. They have developed sanitization procedures and clear policies for how participants move through the building.

Club rules at K.W. Granite allow only 1 sweeper for every shot.  The 2nd sweeper can be involved with the shot but most socially distance from the 1st sweeper to the best of their ability.

Read the protocol here:

Teams will be asked to clear the building shortly after each game in order allow for preparations for the following games. Apart from in-game energy snacks, no food may be brought into the club.

Register for this Event

Due to the smaller size of these events and the demand, teams that participated in the U21 Royal Slam must wait until Friday October 16th at 5:00pm to register for this event. U18 Teams wishing to "play up" into this event may not have played in the U18 Orion Slam, and must wait until Monday, October 19th at 5:00 pm to allow U21 teams time to register.

You must be logged in to register for this event.

This event follows the Junior Slams Series COVID-19 protocols as well as the standard Junior Slam Series Rules and Regulations. All teams must submit waivers electronically before arriving at the event.

Should Ontario increase restrictions that will essentially cancel this event we will process 100% of all registration funds. Should a team withdraw from the event due to health concerns up to 48 hours prior to the event we will refund 100% of the registration fee. Any team withdrawing within 48 hours of the event we will immediately contact our wait list teams and determine the best course of action. Our intention is to make this a fair and equitable process.
