The Athena Slam for Season 8 is back. This event was new in 2020 and returns to Dundas Valley Golf & Country Club this season and runs concurrently with the Men’s U18 Orion Slam. The event has room for 10 Women’s teams and is a great event for teams just returning to the ice looking for plenty of competition time, ice time, team and development time. Teams looking for a weekend together to gain experience and compete against a solid field of teams from across Ontario, consider the Athena one of your top early season events.
This early season event is all about getting games and returning to the ice. This year’s format is modified to have the 10 teams set up into 2 pools of 5 teams each. This will give each team 4 round robin games against teams in their pools and after the round robin completes, Sunday’s Championship Round will see cross over games leading to the event final and a Consolation Round which will also lead to an event final. All in, 5 games minimum guaranteed for the weekend.
