Welcome to another exciting season of the Junior Slam Series!
Junior Slam Season Schedule
Our season schedule is completely in flux due to Covid-19 realities across Canada. Please click n the appropriate age category to view slams currently planned.
U15 Slams for the newest teams
At the U15 slams, we know the athletes want to play.. and play against their peers! The new U15 format will guarantee each team four games with additional coach interaction throughout the game so they can learn while they play. As well as giving the athletes a great format to play and learn, we want to support coaches and parents so we have put together two tool kits – one for parents and one for coaches.
U18 Slams are our most developed events and number the largest in our series. Its our sweet spot and we do it well. The events see deep fields of competition and garner the participation of teams from across Canada as well as drawing International teams. Teams are usually guaranteed four games, pools are balanced and our draws are well timed to maximize the athlete experience over the weekend.
What can we say about our U21 events? They are fantastic! Strong fields of teams from across Canada and Internationally. Our U21 events span 4 provinces; Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan. Provincial and National Champions and those teams that aspire to be make up our competitive fields. What a tremendous training ground!
Our U21+ age category opens many of our U21 Slams to teams with players up to age 24 as of June 2019 including single-gender varsity curling teams. The expanded U21 age limit provides a mutually beneficial experience, allowing young adult players who have newly ‘aged out’ of juniors the affordability and high-performance competition of a Slam and giving our younger athletes the chance to play “up” to a higher skill level.
Mixed Doubles Slams
Our mixed doubles slam are a little different from our regular events. Arranged as a series of Pre-Qualifiers, teams earns points towards an invitation to our NJCT mixed doubles qualifier. The winner of that qualifier wins a trip to Sweden to represent the Junior Slam Series at the NJCT U21 Mixed Doubles Championship in Sundbyburg Sweden. The reward is an expense of a lifetime. Please note for the 2020/21 season the NJCT MD exchange is postponed until further notice.
