The Orion Slam returns to Dundas Valley Golf & Country Club this season and will be running as a standalone men’s event for 2024. Last year demand was strong and the field was expanded to its capacity. The event has room for up to 20 Men’s teams and is a great event for teams just returning to the ice looking for plenty of competition time, ice time, team and development time. Teams looking for a weekend together to gain experience and compete against a solid field of teams from across Ontario and the United States, consider the Athena one of your top early season events.
This early season event is all about getting games and returning to the ice. The format will be based on the number of entries but a field size of 8 teams or greater will see a minimum 4 game round robin with at least one playoff game. We will be implementing a Championship and Consolation final for each of our U18 events this season. We will be in full compliance with CurlON’s TTRS Points system. All teams for the U18 Orion are guaranteed 5 games minimum.
All of the U18 Slam events will utilize an established protocol which will include 5 min pre-game practice, LSD for hammer, and full coach interactions. Prize allocation will be determine by field size and playoff format.
