Time flies and the next thing you know its GREAT 8. This event was where the Junior Slam Series started in September of 2016. The very first U18 Slam was the Phoenix. Kitchener’s KW Granite Curling Club has always played host to the Phoenix and we are delighted to return for our 8th year with this terrific early season U18 event.
The U18 Phoenix has room for 12 Women’s and 12 Men’s teams and is a great event for teams just returning to the ice looking for plenty of competition time, ice time, team and development time. Teams looking for a weekend together to gain experience and compete against a solid field of teams from across Ontario, consider the Phoenix one of your top early season events.
This early season event is all about getting games and returning to the ice. This year’s format is modified to give each team 5 round robin games against teams in balanced pools. After the round Robin completes, the Championship Round will see the top teams play down while a Consolation Round will provide those important early season games. All teams are guaranteed 5 games minimum.
