The Crystal Slam, is new for 2021 and is being held at Kitchener’s KW Granite Curling Club for this season. This is a combined U21 and U18 event on Thanksgiving weekend. The event timing works well for those building towards the first U21 National Provincial Qualifier in early November 2021.
This year’s Sapphire, assuming a full event, has capacity for 12 U21 teams and 12 U18 teams consisting of 6 Women’s and 6 Men’s teams for both events.
Format with Full Draw: 5 Round Robin games, all teams after Round Robin will be positioned in either the Championship or Consolation Round for their 6th game.
The draws will be separate for this event seeing the U21 Men”s and Women’s teams on the same draw schedule. U18 Men’s and Women’s teams will be on their own schedule together.
U21 Teams entering this event will play 10 end games complete with mid game 5 min break. As this is the final U21 event prior to the first U21 National Qualifier we want to give teams experience with game length and coaching interactions.
