38 Years Young

The annual TCA Youth Curling Championships gets underway at the Oshawa Curling club on Thursday December 27th. This annual event is a highlight for many junior curlers, and this year’s should be no exception.

“The TCA Youth Championship has a rich 38 year history as one of the longest running youth bonspiels in the country. It has constantly drawn the best teams from across the province and continues to do so.”
– Grant Cowan, Event Chairman

14 U18 Men’s and 11 U18 Women’s teams will take to the ice to play a 4 games in a round robin that will seed them into a finals event. Every team will qualify for one of the finals, with some earning a spot directly into the playoffs.

“This year we have made some drastic changes that we believe make this the bench mark for junior events. Part of the change is to use the LiveScores system to enhance the the spectator experience.”
– Grant Cowan, Event Chairman

When Grant explained the way he was planning to run the TCA Youth Championship and asked if the LiveScores system might be used, we quickly agreed. While LiveScores had to be extended to support the TCA’s event based playoff format, we were more than happy to do the work. This will be the first Junior event outside the slam to take advantage of the benefits of using LiveScores to manage an event.
